Life Sciences and IBERS: Resource not available?

When a resource is not available from the Library

You will find that there will be times when the resource you need to consult is not available from the library's collections. In this scenario there are a number of options available to you to try and get hold of the materials you need:

  • Request the book if on loan
  • Document Supply service
  • More Books
  • Chapter digitisation service
  • National Library of Wales
  • Sconul Access scheme

Book on loan

If all physical copies of the item you require are on loan, simply place a request for it in Primo. You can also place a request to borrow a journal overnight.

Chapter digitisation

The Library offers a chapter digitisation service on request for students and staff to support study and research.

Find out more and complete the online request form here: https://www.aber.ac.uk/en/is/library-services/digitisation/chapterdigitisation/

Document Supply

The Document Supply Service allows registered users to request items which are not available in the University Libraries. We can support you by locating and supplying books, chapters, and articles held by other libraries.

More information on Document Supply.

National Library of Wales

As a legal deposit library, the National Library of Wales houses over 7 million books readily available for use. You can search the library catalogue online to find collections.  You'll find further information along with a list of resources on the  NLW Resources page.

More Books

If you can’t find a book you’re looking for in the library, you can place a request for it via the More Books campaign (Students only).

Each book ordered through the campaign will be placed in the library collection.

Sconul Access scheme

SCONUL Access is a reciprocal scheme which allows many university library users to borrow or use books and journals at other libraries which belong to the scheme.

The scheme covers most of the university libraries in the UK and Ireland.
