Teachers' LibGuide: Services available to you and your students

One-to-one appointments with Subject Librarians

Subject Librarians provide information skills training and in-depth subject support for students. Book an appointment with your Subject Librarian for help and advice on using the libraries, finding materials for essays, projects and dissertations online:

Borrowing from the Library

The number of items you can borrow will depend on your borrower category.

You can borrow most items for one week and these will be automatically renewed for you each week until someone else needs the item and requests it, or after 12 months.

You will only be fined if you do not bring the item back when it is recalled by another user, or if you do not return the book to the library after 12 months.

More information on how many items you borrow.

Document Supply service to support personal study

The Document Supply Service allows registered users to request items which are not available in:

Information Services will cover the costs of the allocation for the different user groups in all academic departments.

Visit Document Supply Service for further information.

Chapter digitisation

A chapter digitisation service has been introduced to registered staff and students of Aberystwyth University. We digitise chapters from print books in the library.

  • the item(s) must be currently held in print version in the Hugh Owen Library/Physical Sciences Library/External Store
  • the item(s) must not be available electronically via library subscription on Primo or openly available online
  • you may request 1 chapter/10% per book (whichever is greater)

You can find the online form and further information on the Chapter digitisation webpage.
